Drop by the gallery on Friday, July 12th, 6-9 PM as we welcome Barbara Robins to Link Gallery and Workshop. She will be displaying cyanotype images from her series “Connecting”
“Connecting is about joyfully playing with negatives made in my youth and exploring some of the many images my grandmother made between 1920 – 1950. Ione Laisy learned photography from her father, and I learned non-silver methods from the eminent Betty Hahn during a semester of concentrated photographic study at U of New Mexico. I then completed my BFA in photography at U of Montana – Missoula. As life provides unexpected opportunities, I became a Native American literature specialist and have been teaching in the English Department at U of Nebraska at Omaha for 25 years. I am delighted to share my close-up texture studies from nature walks during my undergraduate days and some discoveries from my grandmother’s images. My goal was to select images to showcase the quirky, off-kilter humor that epitomizes my Laisy & Robins families and connect again with that youthful enthusiasm for experimentation.”
